“Today Is a Gift” is the theme for the 14th annual LACiNg Up for Cancer walk on Saturday, June 25, at the Peoples Academy track in Morrisville.
New this year is a 5K fun run presented by Vermont Peanut Butter with support from the local Vermont National Guard. Register for the 5K at runreg.com/lacing-up-for-cancer.
The event benefits the Lamoille Area Cancer Network (LACN), a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to people who are undergoing treatment. Last year’s walk raised more than $184,000. In 2015, 920 grants were made for a total of $200,050.
The goal this year is to sign up 100 teams and raise $175,000. Eighty-four teams are currently signed up.
Other ways to participate include sponsoring a walker, becoming a corporate sponsor, donating to the silent auction, or helping with setup or cleanup. Information: Kathy Demars, 888-7720; Jill Baker, 888-8302.
